Abstract – Cloud computing in conjunction with the Internet of Things (IoT) has transformed the industries through the ability to provide high-levels of scalability, efficiency, and automation previously unattainable. Nevertheless, since all IoT devices gather and transfer sensitive information over networks, one of the most recent challenges that have been encountered is privacy and security issues. This review paper discusses the serious concerns associated with the security and privacy of the IoT-cloud based systems and in specific, the frameworks such as General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Privacy by Design (PbD). Such frameworks are necessary to guarantee that the management of the aspects of privacy is embedded within the entire scheme of system lifecycle such as information gathering, storage and communication. The article addresses the multidimensional requirements of privacy, comprising data minimized, transparency and accountability and how secure communication protocol and robust encryption technique can help reduce security risks.
